(group photo) – I do not recollect this occasion at all! I do recognise a few.

John Devine in the back row, 3rd from right

Patrick Doolan leftmost on second row from back

Henry Taroni front row extreme right

I’m not sure but I think the second from left on the back row is John Colston

I have received an email today, 3.3.12., from James Gleeeson who has provided the following information.

Regarding picture 9, the group picture. You have named extreme right front row as Henry TaronI. It is in fact Matthew Nolan and not Henry Taroni. Others in the pic are myself front centre, Philip Marron between myself and brother, Michael Gleeson. To the left of myself is Eamonn Neville . I'm not sure who the person far left front row is but I think it may be Patrick Neville , Eamonn's older brother. The picture was taken around 1963/64. We were the only school in history up to that time to win the junior and intermediate cricket competition in the same year. I hope this information is of some interest to you.

Brian Johnson

I was born in Birmingham and I studied Economics at Leicester University.  When I graduated in 1963 I thought I would make a career in industry in general management.  However, I had not gained a position by September 1963 so I decided to move into teaching.  I think I enjoyed it rather too much!  My efforts to find an alternative job were put on hold.  I taught at St Joseph’s, Long Acre for the whole school year and for two months of the following year.  It was hard work but good fun.  Mr Cassell was the headmaster and Mr Whittle his deputy.  Other teachers were Miss Devlin, Mrs Hardwick, another Mr Johnson (Andrew), Roger Heaton and Terry Tomlinson.  It was a happy school and the pupils got well with each other.  I’m afraid that after 44 years some (no, most) of the pupils’ names have disintegrated in my memory bank, but a few remain.

I did get a job in industry – as a trainee computer programmer in November 1964.  I made my career in the computer business in various roles and eventually retired from full-time work in 1997.  I then worked part-time in a self-employed role until 2002.  Along the way I acquired a wife (only one – and she’s still with me after 43 years!).  We have two children (now adults) who live in London and one grandson.  We have no difficulty in keeping ourselves busy with our hobbies and friends.  We now live just outside Stratford-upon-Avon.
